A Transport is the layer that moves bytes between processes. The contract is small, and each Transport defines its own delivery modes. Mode 0 is the portable default. Several Transports can listen at once.
| Transport | Notes |
|---|---|
| UDP | Included. Based on KCP, IPv4 and IPv6. It has no encryption of its own. |
| Loopback | Included. In process, with fault injection, for tests. |
| Netcode Steam Transport | A separate gem (0.1.0) that needs FoundationNetcode and FoundationSteamworks 1.65 or newer. It has only been tested over mock sockets. Nobody has run it over the real Steam network, and it has no lobby integration. |
Choose the Transport in the Netcode tool’s Settings, or by registry settings for a launcher.
