This page says plainly what is and is not true of Netcode Foundation 0.1.0. There is no release tag and no Codeberg release until 1.0.
What has been done #
- The Core has 227 tests, run in Release, with ASan and UBSan, with TSan, and under wine, plus a two process test over real UDP.
- The gem’s own test runs a Standalone session under the engine flags.
- The Arena sample’s headless verification passes on O3DE 26.10 over UDP loopback.
- The Icebreaker sample has been run by a person on two machines.
What is not built or not confirmed #
- Typed Script Canvas nodes for each Schema field and message are not built. Script Canvas uses the field handle calls today.
- Only Linux has been built and tested. Windows has been cross built for the Core only, and Mac is untested.
- The gem is not in the Project Manager catalogue yet.
- The Steam Transport has only run over mock sockets, never real Steam.
- Prediction, rollback and lockstep are not packaged features. Only their mechanisms exist, and the Arena shows one authoritative Pawn.
- Scale has not been proven. The Arena allows 8 connections, and larger counts are only measured in bench scenes.
- The Schema page’s observation level controls have not been checked by a person in the Editor.
- There is no encryption in the UDP Transport, no matchmaking, no NAT punch-through and no anti-cheat.
- No other engine is supported. The Core is engine independent by construction, but we have not announced a port.
Reporting a problem #
